About Me
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. My name is John Riva and I will be telling you guys about myself. I was born on February 16, 2004, to John and Jennifer Riva. I was a whopping 9lbs 9 oz and 22 inches long, and today I am 6’5” and 190lbs. I’d say my parents and grandparents fed me well! I have always been a happy person. I never went through the terrible twos or terrible teens, but I joke with my family that there is still time! I enjoy having fun and being silly, but I can also be serious and stubborn at times. I am a homebody and enjoy the company of my family and close friends. I try to look at the bright side of every situation and make the best of every moment.
One of my first childhood memories is of me running. I was constantly running, just like Forrest Gump! We had a big yard in Ladd, so we were always outside. Whether it be playing tag, swinging on my swing-set, jumping on my trampoline, zooming my cars or trains around or just exploring, we spent a lot of time outdoors. One of our favorite spots was our garage. We had a tv, neon lights and a dart board. We loved to turn on the Cubs game, turn up the country music and play darts. We had family and friends get togethers in the garage all the time.
As I got older I put a lot of time into sports. I played travel baseball and met a lot of new people, many of which I am still friends with today. I also played travel basketball team called the Illinois Attack for a few summers. We are a sports family and love to attend sporting events, as well as play. My sister and I play a variety of sports, and it’s funny, but my Grandma and Grandpa Riva color code their calendar with all of the grandchildren’s events so they can either both attend together or split up. My Gammy and Grandpa Reardon also support our activities. There is a lot of traveling and cheering for these four Superfans!
These days I put a lot of time into my studies and basketball. When I have down time I like to go to hang out with my friends or play games on PlayStation. There really aren’t many options for young adults in a small town, but we get together as often as we can. When I have free time I love to vacation with my family to Door County, go to Cubs games, attend my sister’s softball events, and just spend time with my family in general.
My future plans keep me motivated to continue to work hard and set academic and athletic goals so I can have a successful career at North Central College. As for now I look forward to a good freshman year and all the great times ahead.
