    The scene that moved me at the end of the film was Gregory’s difficult call to his wife to inform her that he was entering the Witness Protection Program. Both were distraught when talking, and you could tell by the wife’s actions and facial expression that she knew her husband was in danger. They were speechless at times. Grigory also spoke in a code to her and assured her that she knew what he was talking about. This phone call was heartbreaking for their lives were about to change forever.

    The calming music being played when Bryan took Grigory to the airport added to the emotional farewell. Both questioned when they would see each other again. Grigory assures Bryan that he will be back yet says to him , ``Remember me.” They embrace and you can tell that they realize this may be a final farewell.

    The questions that remain are: Is Grigory sorry for his involvement in the Russian doping scandal? Will Grigory ever be safe and be able to leave Witness Protection? Will Russian officials continue to look for him? How much doping goes on in athletic competitions today? What will Fogel’s next adventure be after this documentary?

    Perhaps, further research might answer some of the above questions. By the end of the film, the viewer can just speculate what is to follow.

     “Icarus” is a documentary about doping . Bryan Fogel, an amateur cyclist, is devastated by Lance Armstrong’s confession that he took banned substances yet never failed a drug test. He decided to design a doping program for himself similar to Armstrong’s that would prove that drug-testing systems were inept. Fogel began using performance enhancing drugs. The film vividly portrays his everyday use of the drugs and how he administered them to himself. This made me feel very anxious. The way that he injected the drug into his skin daily made me uneasy. Rational Argument #3

Today, I continued writing and researching my first point about college revenue and not paying athletes. I researched statistics about how people in general feel about paying athletes. I also researched what prominent athletes think about the issue. I discussed the difference between athletic money-makers and the unpaid athlete. I further researched my second point about injury and the athlete. Again, I used statistics to show the probability of injury and its effect on the athlete. I also found information on the college’s role as it relates to health insurance. I continued to research my third point about an athlete’s commitment to his team which denies him from having a job. This research included the number of athletes who go pro and the rationale that it would be more beneficial to encourage them to stay in school and be able to fall back on a degree if the pro ranks do not pan out.
